The 'Letters by Romantics' project aims to establish romantic connections between artists, poets and their audience. In our contemporary time, love seems to be escaping our hands even though we might need it now more than ever. Loneliness increases and war rages. It appears to become harder and harder every year to build deep bonds of love and trust, especially for artists and poets. Just as the Romantics from the 19th century, let us work with the big topic of love, and imagine that finding love through writing is possible. After all, don't we all want and deserve to be loved? 'Letters by Romantics' thus is an artistic project on artists and poets "dating", in order to find and build romantic connections in any shape and form.
1st edition.
Artists and poets were invited to write a romantic letter for an unknown receiver, preferably someone who is not an artist or poet. The content as well as the literal vorm was completely free for the participating artists. The letters were delivered by LDH on Valentine's day 2024, creating random matches. What happened after delivery was up to the receiver, so there is no obligation to react or to engage. For the execution of the project, it was limited to Maastricht, The Netherlands and Aachen, Germany.
2nd edition.
'Letters by Romantics' participated at the poetry brother by 'Het Fabularium' during 'Cultura Nova' on 7th September 2024. In difference to the first edition. The letters by the participating artists were collected and served at the event. Free for any visitor to take one.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to write a letter on the spot and add it to the plate.
